Tag - you're it!!

I've been tagged by Joanne - Things Handmade - Thanks Joanne :O)

I have to tell you 5 things I am addicted to and pass it on to 5 more lovely blogs. This is a first for me so I only hope I get it right!
So, Esther, Rachel, Joanne, Lisa and Sara you have all been tagged! I know there are quite a few of these going around blogland at the moment - but I don't think any of you have received this yet - apologies in advance if you have!!
Right ...... 5 things that I am addicted to:-
1. Kissing my children's fluffy heads - I have loved doing this ever since they have been born - (inhaling that baby head smell is just the best!)
2. Reading - I am completely lost if I don't have something to read - that's why I love my job in the library because I can get my hands on practically any book that I fancy -all for free!
3. Wasting time on the computer, I could spend ages reading blogs, surfing the net aimlessly, looking for bargains on eBay, looking at Facebook etc, when I should be doing something constructive such as ......housework!
4. Tea - I love a good cuppa!
5. Chocolate!

At last......

I have actually managed to finish knitting my Fingerless Mittens - they seem to have been on the needles for ages!

After a bit of a bad start - and one practise mitt later - I finally managed to get the hang of knitting with DPNs. I found that the hardest part is actually getting the first few rows done, once I got past that I found it fairly easy to do.

I don't think that they are too bad for a first attempt! :O)

Flowery Thank You!

I was sent this lovely red felty flower brooch from the very generous Rachel just for being the 400th person to leave a comment on her blog! It is very pretty and very well made - I love it - I have only been blogging for a few months and have "met" some very nice people - Thank you so much Rachel :O)

Our half term week is almost over - the children go back to school on Tuesday - it has been a very quick week which has gone by in a flash, probably because we have had so much to do. We've played in the snow (again), been to the dentist for our check ups, taken the children to Time Twisters where they had a ball (and we had some very nice lunch!) and trailed around Toys R Us a couple of times, which is always a good and mostly free way of keeping the kids occupied for a little while!

I hope everyone has a good weekend and if you have still got your half term break to come then I hope it's a good one :O) xx

Half term

This week it is half term for us and we have been lucky enough to have a little bit more snow this morning for the children to play in.

I can't see me having much time to do much on my own this week as I will have to keep the kiddiwinkles occupied, but I have managed to finish this cute little Koala Bear which is another one of the free patterns that are available from The Knitted Toy Box.

These little cuties are so quick and easy to knit and if you give them embroidered eyes they are just the right size for small people to play with :O)

Ironing ....... Why?

I think that there may be an avalanche about to happen very soon inside my ironing cupboard.

The pile of clothes that is in there is getting more mountainous by the day, and looks ready to topple down on top of me every time I go into the cupboard to contemplate doing anything about it!

It is one of those jobs that I have been going to tackle everyday this week, but there are always more pressing things just waiting to be done - such as knitting, having a cup of tea or both -Ha ha :O).

Yesterday, instead of doing the houseworky thing , I got out my knitting needles and made this little owl dishcloth for my best friend who loves all things owly - I'm not sure what she will think of the dishcloth idea though!! The pattern was from one that I found on Ravelry. It is amazing how a few stitches and cables can produce a little owl.

Right - I'm off now to climb a very high clothes mountain :O)

Snow

Like most places across the country, it was snowing here yesterday too! And what makes it so special is that this generation of children don't get to see proper snow very often now.

I love seeing my children's excited faces when you tell them it's been snowing and they jump out of bed and rush to the window to have a look,

I love watching them hurrying to put on their coats, hats, gloves and wellies on and running outside to play,

I love watching them and all the other kids throwing snowballs at each other on their way to school and in the playground,

I love letting them throw snowballs at me just because they can and it's fun getting Mummy soaked,

I love helping them build a snowman in the garden when they come home from school and then.....

I love coming indoors for hot chocolate, a cup of tea and a snack and getting all snuggly under a cosy blanket on the settee waiting for small hands and feet to thaw out again.

It all makes you feel very nostalgic and takes you back to your own childhood again when there seemed to be snow to play in every year :O)

Little Fabric Parcel

Look what came in the post for me today!

A lovely little fabric parcel from the very nice Sara , just to say Thank You for suggesting a good book about crocheting - it was very kind of her :O)

My particular favourite is the blue and white denim patchwork and I'm sure it will come in very useful for something. I'm not quite sure what I will make with it - at the moment I am thinking a little drawstring bag would be nice, but I could change my mind, the possibilities are probably endless!!

ARGH!! - I've just looked out of my bedroom window and can't see a thing - there's a blizzard going on out there at the moment and I have to drive to work in about ten minutes!!
