Spring has sprung!

I have been told that today is apparently the first official day of spring, and it certainly does seem that Spring has indeed sprung! The weather has improved, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and all the lovely spring flowers are blooming.

With this in mind, I thought that I would share a little spring time poem with you all. The poem is called The Spring Ball and was written by my wonderful Mum and was published last year.

The Spring Ball

Who is coming to the annual Spring Ball?
Iris in purple, so elegantly tall.
Delightful Daffodil, dressed in yellow,
Primrose and Narcissus, mild and mellow.
Tulip and Crocus, with dresses so bright,
Beautiful Bluebell is standing upright.
Snowdrop will come in her delicate white dress,
In all their glory, they will impress.
All are happy to answer the call,
To appear again at the annual Spring Ball.

I hope you liked it!

Enjoy your weekend and to all you lovely Mummys out there - have a very Happy Mothers Day :O)

I won!

I won a giveaway!

A pretty little crochet flowery brooch from Kelly - isn't it lovely! I am afraid that my photo doesn't really do it much justice, it is beautifully made and the colours look lovely together. I can crochet a little bit , but I don't think I could make anything as nice as this.

I think that my little girl will probably try and claim it for herself when she comes home from school - as I showed her it to her on Kelly's blog when she posted about the giveaway and she loved it!

Shall I hide it away or will I share?............. Oh, the dilemma! I think I'll do the nice Mummy thing and share, then we can both enjoy it! :O)

To build.......

Or not to build - that is the question!

The best part of last week was largely taken up with meetings at the bank and with architects to find out about the possibility of us building an extension onto the back of our house. Fortunately both the bank and the architect have come back with the answer that we wanted to hear and we can now go ahead and get the plans drawn up - yippee!!

The architect that we have chosen is local, but has previously been featured on the Channel 4 programme Grand Designs, so he comes with a very good reputation.

All going well we plan to start around October, so watch this space :O)

Time.....

Where does the time go to? The days and weeks are just flying by and there just never seems enough time in the day to get anything done - let alone anything of a crafty nature!!

This is a run down of one of our so called normal days......

Force myself out of bed!
Get washed and dressed!
Persuade kids to get up!
Supervise fighting whilst they decide who gets to watch what on the telly!
Get their breakfast - whilst making packed lunches!
Get them washed and dressed and looking semi - presentable for school!
Leave house and walk to school, trying to stop then wandering off on the way!
Walk back from school!
Finally have a well earned cup of tea and sit down to try and plan what else I am going to do during the day!

That only accounts for a couple of hours - by the time I've done all that I am too exhausted to do anything else and any housework that I have planned - tends not to get past the planning stages :O)

Anyway, that's enough rambling for just now! The only crafty thing that I have had time for this week was to make this little bunny from yet another pattern that I found on Ravelry. It was really easy to make and looks so cute!

Birthday gifts

It was my birthday yesterday - I won't bore you with the numerical details, but let's just say that I have reached the point when I am starting to count backwards now!

I had a lovely day, my husband took the day off work and cooked me all my meals and brought me lots of cups of tea, which was very thoughtful of him.

I got some lovely presents - some new glasses, vouchers for John Lewis (which will probably be spent in the Haberdashery dept), a scented candle, some Lush shampoo and conditioner and a nice bottle of pink Champagne (which we drank with dinner last night).

My favourite presents were these beautiful Willow Tree figures that my children gave to me, one little girl and one little boy, both giving me their hearts - they both got my heart the minute they were born - aren't they just gorgeous!! :O)

Tag - you're it!!

I've been tagged by Joanne - Things Handmade - Thanks Joanne :O)

I have to tell you 5 things I am addicted to and pass it on to 5 more lovely blogs. This is a first for me so I only hope I get it right!
So, Esther, Rachel, Joanne, Lisa and Sara you have all been tagged! I know there are quite a few of these going around blogland at the moment - but I don't think any of you have received this yet - apologies in advance if you have!!
Right ...... 5 things that I am addicted to:-
1. Kissing my children's fluffy heads - I have loved doing this ever since they have been born - (inhaling that baby head smell is just the best!)
2. Reading - I am completely lost if I don't have something to read - that's why I love my job in the library because I can get my hands on practically any book that I fancy -all for free!
3. Wasting time on the computer, I could spend ages reading blogs, surfing the net aimlessly, looking for bargains on eBay, looking at Facebook etc, when I should be doing something constructive such as ......housework!
4. Tea - I love a good cuppa!
5. Chocolate!
